World Series Final Game Attracts Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting extended matchup that saw the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a total over 50 million watchers in the United States, Canada, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball reported this marks the most-watched World Series Game 7 after the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday epic game secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game after the 2017 edition final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent improvement over the last finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, Game 4 was seventh, Game 5 came in 8th, and the third game finished in 13th position.

Global Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game averaged 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English program in the country since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it drew 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – recorded 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a single network in Japan.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-match World Series averaged 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen audience increases for two straight years.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total US average was 16.1 million. The overall World Series viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09 million watchers, an eight percent rise compared to last year and Fox’s best playoff ratings since 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in 16 various tongues.
